The Sant Jordi Trophy (Saint George´s Trophy) was created by the lack of international competitions for the younger fencers. The main goal of the competition is to give young fencers the opportunity to compete within their own age category at an international level. The Catalan Fencing Federation hopes that this competition will be very beneficial for all participants and give them a great chance to gain experience by fencing with fencers from different countries. The competition system was specially designed to make fencers fence as much as possible as tere’s no elimination after poules round.
The Catalan Fencing Federation has earned its reputation as an organizer of sport events such as the Barcelona Women´s Epee World Cup that celebrates its 47th edition this year. The International Fencing Federation (FIE) has recognized and thanked the organizational success on numerous occasions
