Eszter Muhari wins the 48th Ciutat de Barcelona International Trophy

On February 7th, 8th and 9th, the INEFC of Barcelona hosted a new edition of the Women’s Epee World Cup, with a final participation of 303 fencers from 47 different nationalities, where the best fencers in the world once again demonstrated their great quality.

The Hungarian Eszter Muhari, bronze medalist at the past Paris Olympic Games, has won the amphora that accredits her as the winner of the 48th edition of the International Ciutat de Barcelona Fencing Trophy. The Hungarian fencer, after suffering valiantly in the round of 16 to beat the Chinese Junyao Tang 15 to 14, had a relatively easy path to the final, where, despite facing the combative Sera Song, she prevailed with a resounding 15 to 9. The podium of the “Ciutat de Barcelona” was completed by the Italians Rossella Fiamingo and Lucrezia Paulis, in what has been their best participation in the prestigious tournament in the city of Barcelona to date.

In the team event, Italy achieved the final victory for the second consecutive year, with a selection led by Giulia Rizzi, and very well accompanied by Federica Isola, Sara Maria Kowalczyk and Roberta Marzani. In the final, the transalpine combined team defeated the Chinese selection by 45 to 37. South Korea was the selection that accompanied these two selections to the podium, after defeating the French selection in the fight for third and fourth place.
