In the team event of the 45th “Trofeu Ciutat de Barcelona”, the victory of the French team was overwhelming. The results of the previous day, with two fencers on the podium, placed France as one of the clear candidates to win. Once they beat Hong Kong 45-40 in the round of 16, their run to the final was a triumphant ride. In the quarterfinals they got rid of South Korea by 45 to 33, in the semifinals of Italy (which finished third) by 40 to 31, and in the final they didn’t give Russia an option and defeated it by 45 to 34.
